About STAT 051 OL1

Introduction to probabilistic and statistical reasoning, including probability distribution models and applications to current scientific/social issues. Roles of probability, study design, and exploratory/confirmatory data analysis. Prerequisite: Two years high school algebra. No credit for Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors in the mathematical and engineering sciences.

Section Description

Stat51 is designed to engage students using a modeling and simulation approach to inference. Upon completion of this course, students should have an understanding of the foundational concepts of data, variation and inference, as well as an appreciation for the fundamental role that statistics plays in a host of disciplines, such as business, economics, law, and medicine.
