Section Description

This course introduces methods for measuring habitat variables and estimating population parameters for wildlife. It is an intensive week-long class taught in the field and required for Wildlife and Fisheries Biology (Wildlife Concentration) majors. It covers essential techniques for estimating, measuring, and monitoring habitats and populations.

Section Expectation

This is a 1-credit field course and requires some background in forest ecosystems (see prerequisite). The course is taught in the field and involves completing five field exercises that will each involve collecting data, analyzing results, and writing a professional report. All reading materials and basic field equipment for field exercises will be provide. Student should be prepared for full days out in the field.


Grades will be based on attendance and participation and field exercises.
