From Laval, Québec, two childhood friends came to the University of Vermont to make their mark in the ECAC record books. Dubbed "The French Connection," the two 5'7" forwards carried the UVM Catamounts to the top of the ECAC Division I rankings during their last three years. The 1996/97 ECAC Hockey Guide stated: "Forwards Eric Perrin and Martin St. Louis .... What else is there to be said? .... Along the way, they are expected to rewrite the school and ECAC records." And they did.
