Senior Fitness

Description:

This popular program provides excellent advice and ample opportunity for participants 55 and older to be physically active in a fun and non-threatening environment. Join Barbara Jordan for a fun and energetic class that will help participants to feel good about themselves and improve their health. A typical Senior Fitness class starts off with Tai Chi, which is followed by upper and lower body warm-ups, balance, agility and coordination exercises, flexibility and strength work using Somatics, active isolated stretching, flow yoga, pilates and resistance tubes. As a bonus of enrolling in this course participants are invited to enjoy the use of the UVM fitness center Monday, Wednesday, and Friday before 11 am. This time is optional and the instructor will help each individual set up a cardio and/or weight training program.

Registration Options:
  • Web Registration - Opens December 2 for Spring semester! Bring completed participation waiver to first session.

  • In-Person Registration - Participants may register in-person at their first class; however all forms must be completed prior to participation.

Fall 2013:

Fall Session*: Monday, August 26th - Friday, December 13, 2013

Meets: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays

Time: 7:45-9:00am

Instructor:

Barbara Jordan is a Senior Olympics medalist in Track and Field. She holds many National Championships for Masters Track and Field events. She has held U.S. Records in the 60M Hurdles and 200M Dash Indoors, and the 80M Hurdles Outdoors for Women 70-74. She has also held World Records in the 300M Hurdles, the Indoor Pentathlon, the 4x400M Relay (women 70-74) and the 4x100 Relay (women 75-79). Barbara has been teaching Senior Fitness and Wellness classes since 1985.
