Relevant Information for the Stormwater Working Group

We are developing tools that can be applied directly to Potash Brook in South Burlington, Vermont but that also are relevant to other urbanizing watersheds in New England and elsewhere. The variously-scaled and spatially-distributed approaches that we are evaluating are intended to improve ecosystem health and community well-being over the long-term. They are especially cost-efficient when used at the development stage. Plans exist to subdivide and develop the agricultural land above the existing Butler Farm subdivision and so an opportunity exists to work with the developer to design efficient and innovative stormwater management features into the new development from its inception.

We are also looking at demonstrations for retrofitting existing developments and finding optimal solutions for neighborhoods and developments that already exist.
