Computing & Information Technology Mission

The mission of CIT is to foster and support
the implementation of information technology
by collaborating with students, faculty and staff
in order to help them achieve their goals at UVM.

 

Service Statement

CIT provides many no-fee services to all students, faculty and staff to help them make effective use of information technology. Some of these are:

Email and Web authoring accounts

Computer labs & classrooms

Guidance for web pages development

Statistical analysis design

Selected site-licensed software

Extra Services at No Extra Cost for UVM Standards

CIT provides extra services at no extra cost when you buy a computer system from UVM's computer store (Depot). See http://cit.uvm.edu/buy.html . For example, CIT

  1. installs the CIT supported suite of standard software. NOTE: Other software available for purchase.
     
  2. delivers your system to your on-campus office or residence hall room, sets it up and shows you that it works. NOTE: At fall distribution of UVM's back-to-school promotion, we will provide expert guidance to help you set up your system in your residence hall room, if you need it.
     
  3. connects your system to UVM's network, if you ordered a network connection.
     
  4. helps, at your request, to reinstall the CIT supported suite of standard software. You will need to reload your data files from your backups.
     
  5. picks up and delivers on campus by appointment for warranty work.
     
  6. staff are specially trained and experienced in the use of the systems the Depot sells.

 

All services are available on campus to students, faculty and staff by appointment between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday, except holidays, and you must be present for on site services.
