Review

There are so many talented singer-songwriters producing excellent music that it boggles the mind to keep up sometimes. As one who manages a music series with 2500 performances over the past thirteen years, I’ve had the opportunity to review thousands of albums from the great and not so great artists from far and wide. Much to my delight, one of the best new albums I’ve been fortunate to hear this past year came from one of my local area artists. Paul Webb has created “Green Mountain Spring” a collection of twelve songs, some vocal and some instrumental. This album is more than a bunch of songs, it’s a complete work that elevates Webb to the realm of composer rather than songwriter. While each selection can easily stand alone, it’s best to listen to the album beginning to end. Paul is a gifted pianist and arranger/composer and has hand-picked the perfect artists to compliment his work. “Green Mountain Spring” could easily be considered the soundtrack to Vermont and is a brilliant album from a gifted artist. “It’s my favorite album of 2002....period”.
