The UVM Purchasing Card Program

Design the New UVM Purchasing Card

As you may know, a number of departments and individuals at UVM are participating in the pilot phase of implementing an institutional/corporate purchasing card program for small dollar purchases. If you have not heard about the card, please visit our website.

Our contract with Mellon Bank, the card provider, allows us to specify a custom design for our card. Within certain constraints, we can incorporate whatever look we choose. We are going out to you, the University community, seeking designs for the UVM PurCard. Designs will be evaluated by the Implementation Team, and the selected design will be immortalized in thousands of purchasing cards over the life of the program. In addition, the person whose design is selected will receive a $25 gift certificate to the University Store.

There are printed templates available that outline the card's dimensions and required elements. You will find them at University Graphics and Printing, and the Controller's Office, in Waterman, or you can download the image files from the Templates page

There are several required elements that must appear on the card. These are shown in the templates. In addition, the card must have the following elements:

"The University of Vermont" or "UVM" (text or logo per UVM Graphics Style Guide)
UVM tax exempt number (5 digits, can be on front or back)
The text "Purchasing Card" or "UVM Purchasing Card"

Keep in mind that this card, and everyone using it, will be representing the University of Vermont. You may wish to consult the University of Vermont Graphics Style Guide, available from the Office of University Marketing, 656-1104 for information about UVM logos and text styles. The decision of the Implementation Team is final. The selected design may be modified, and becomes the property of the University of Vermont.

All entries must be received no later than September 1, 1998. Submit your entries by campus mail or email to David Punia, 349 Waterman Bldg. Direct your questions to David Punia or Erin Fitzgerald.
