Accounting Tags will replace Speedtypes and Speedcharts in PeopleSoft Finance on March 25, 2019. Like speedtypes and speedcharts, Accounting Tags are a way to save a frequently used chartstring for quick entry.
There are two types of Accounting Tags: single-line and multi-line. Roughly speaking, single-line Accounting Tags replace speedtypes, and multi-line Accounting Tags replace speedcharts.
Single- and multi-line Accounting Tags cannot be used interchangeably: as shown in the table below, single-line Accounting Tags can only be used in the General Ledger (GL) module of PeopleSoft, and multi-line Accounting Tags can be used only in the Requisitions (eProcurement), Purchase Order (PO), and Accounts Payable (AP) modules. Accounting Tags are not yet available in the Expenses and Accounts Receivable modules.
Type of Accounting Tag | Replaces | Module it Can Be Used In | Sample Transactions |
---|---|---|---|
Single-line | Speedtype | GL | Actuals journals Budget journals PurCard reallocation journals |
Multi-line | Speedchart | ePro/Requisitions, PO, AP | Requisitions Purchase orders Vouchers |
During the March 21-March 25 PeopleSoft Finance upgrade, existing speedtypes and speedcharts will be converted to Accounting Tags. The new, converted Accounting Tags will have the same name as the old speedtype or speedchart.
Accounting Tags can be created in PeopleSoft Finance by navigating to: Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Common Definitions > Design ChartFields > Accounting Tags
After the March 25 upgrade, please see the Journal Entry User Guide (PDF) or the PurCard Reallocation Process User Guide (PDF) for complete instructions on creating single-line Accounting Tags, and the Requisitions, Purchase Orders, and Reviewing Payment Information User Guide (PDF) for complete instructions on creating multi-line Accounting Tags.
