Attendance Policy:

Students are urged to attend on a regular basis. Attendance records will be kept. There will be three allowed absences during the semester not including academic calendar holidays. Each absence following the first three will result in a 1/2 letter grade penalty applied to the student's final grade. Absences beyond the first three will only be excused under dire circumstances and official verification may be requested.

This policy will be enforced using a seating chart. By Wednesday September 4th choose a seat that you are comfortable with. You will be asked to record your seat number on a form handed out by the graduate student. For each following lecture attendance will be recorded by my graduate student. For the record, showing up for the attendance count and then leaving will be recorded as an absence.

About This Policy: There will be a lot of information covered in this course and if you miss more than a week of lectures you will be missing out on a large number of important concepts. Additionally, PSS 011 is now the initial majors course for students going on to complete the requirements for a PSS major. Professors in the upper-division course are relying on your mastery of the concepts covered here to provide you with the foundation knowledge and skills to succeed in their courses. It is my responsibility to provide you with the best information and instruction possible and your responsibility to participate as an active learner.
