The Catayak Canoe and Kayak Club was created several years ago in order to bring Leadership and unity to the University’s Whitewater Community. It currently runs pool sessions every Wednesday night from 10pm-11pm and Sunday nights from 8pm-10pm at the Pool in Gutterson Field House. The Sunday night pool sessions are run in concert with the Vermont Paddler’s Club, in exchange for beginner and advanced instruction.
In the Spring and early Fall Catayak runs river trips down local rivers such as the West, Lamoille, and Mad Rivers Vermont, La Chine rapid in Montreal, the Dryway and Fifebrook sections of the Deerfield Rivers in Charlemont, Massachusetts, the Kennebec, Dead, Penobscot, and Rapid in Maine. They also plan a Spring Break trip down south to the New and Gauley Rivers in West Virginia, the Youghagheny in Pennsylvania, and the Ocoee in Tennessee.
