Steven F. Maier, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor, Department of Psycholo gy and Neuroscience, University of Colorado at Boulder
Over several decades, Steven Maier, Ph.D., has explored the variables that help determine the impact of stressful events on the brain and behavior. Recently, Dr. Maier has focused on mechanisms that promote stress resistance, and his work suggests experience with escapable/controllable stressors produces long-term changes that protect organisms against future stressors.
