• Introduce yourself to the teacher

• Introduce yourself to the class

• Come early (before class starts) and connect with the teacher

• Stay after class and connect with the teacher

• Ask the teacher questions (after or before class) about why they did something in a particular way

• Ask the teacher what the class will be studying, what books they will be reading- become familiar with the readings, assignments

• Don=t be shy - if you see an opportunity to help, go for it -

• Ask the teacher if there is anything they could use some help with - copying, research, etc..

• Try not to look bored

• Talk to the students

Have some extra time?

• Spend extra time in Basic Skills

• Visit other classes

• Help students study for tests afterschool (a UVM student held a Sunday Astudy hall@ to help students study for a big test)

• Arrange time to talk with teachers in Basic Skills or with cooperating Teacher
