BANNER Naming conventions.

Note: All BANNER documentation is available on the "N" disk in PDF format.

All Banner2000 forms (except menus), reports, jobs, and tables have seven-character names with the following
structure:
Example                       G      L     R      V     R      B      L
Position Locations         1      2      3      4      5      6       7

Position 1
Identifies the system owning the form, report, process, or table.
F Finance
G General
P Human Resources/ Payroll/Personnel
R Financial Aid
S Student
T Accounts Receivable
V Voice Response
W,X,Z Reserved for client applications that co-exist with Banner

Position 2
Identifies the application module owning the form, report, process, or table.
If the character in position 1 is G, then the character in position 2 is one of the following:
E Event Management
J Job Submission
L Letter Generation
O Overall
P Purge
T Validation Form/Table
U Utility
W,X,Y Reserved for client-developed forms or modules used within a Banner2000 application  .

Position 3
Identifies the type of form, report, process, or table.
A Application form
B Base table
Batch COBOL process
I Inquiry form
O Online COBOL process
Q Query form accessed from another form
R Rule table
Repeating table
Report or process
T General maintenance
Temporary table
V Validation table (if position 2 is T)
View (if position 2 is not T)
Positions 4, 5, 6, and 7 Identify a unique, four-character name for the form, report, process, or table.
