Wenesday, 16th October---Please look for solutions to the early homework
sets in the glass cases outside Room A-408 in the Cook Building. I have
also poster there a copy of a previous Mid-Term Exam. In preparation
for our Mid-Term Exam on Monday, 21st October, I have scheduled two Help
Sessions. One is at 6--7:30 pm on Thursday, Oct. 17, and the other is
at 7--9 pm on Sunday, Oct. 20. Both will be held in our regular classroom,
B-112 Angell.
Friday, 11th October---The first sets of homework solutions are posted
on the right-side end of the glass cases outside Room A-408 Cook Bldg. Posted
are the solutions for the first three homework assignments, ch. 1, ch, 2
and ch.3/4. No late homework from these assignments will now be accepted.
Thursday, 12 Sept---Two people have reported difficulties in accessing
the Homework Helps, where three of the problems are given. I have
checked into the problem, and have accessed the page from several different
servers. Therefore, (as your Network Provider) would inform, please
do not treat this as a "network problem". If your browser will not
load the page, then please find one on campus which will! I have never
found the slightest problem, but the one person who I actually spoke to
was able to load the page using the syntax---

Monday, 9 Sept---Please note the tutoring hours on the Astronomy 5 "home
page" above. We have often noticed that students have quite a few
questions on the first several homework assignments, but that this often tapers
off as people get used to the type of questions we ask (and the text asks).
So, please come around to me or the tutors during our office hours if you
are having difficulty. This is a very difficult course to get behind
in, as we will soon be covering two chapers each week!
