The Cats

Perpetual Motion Fur

Why Norse? Why Vikings?

By legend, the ancestors of Coon Cats arrived in North America (Vineland) on Viking longboats. Independent always, some had to have been left behind when the settlements were finally abandoned.
Centuries later, bred in mystery, creatures emerged from the forests of New England that were clearly Norse in origin: twice the size of mortal cats, cloaked in a magic pelt, and seized often by a berserker energy--pillaging their surroundings while singing of battle in ancient tongues.

Gunther -- Odin
Gunther, as Alpha Cat, must be Odin although he operates more as Uncle than Ruler. He is wiser and kinder than the Norse deities, but in his black-as-nightness he carries his own divine majesty.

Spenser -- Aurvandil the Bold (not)
Spenser is blond as a Viking, bigger than a longboat, strong as 10 berserkers, and gentle to a fault. If asked to fight, his only hope is to faint in such a way as to fall upon and crush his challengers.

Thunder -- Thor
Thunder is the cat of mysterious ancestry, trapped as a feral kitten in the mountains of Tennessee. He has channeled Thor from birth, and needs no horse as he gallops the house, roaring, and scattering hammers and lightning-bolts in his wake.

Mandrake -- Heimdall
Heimdall is the magical white guardian of the rainbow bridge to Valhalla. White as snow, cool as ice, swift and silent as winter, none shall pass the one bearing the magician's mark of bi-colored eyes.

Gremlin -- Loki
Gremlin is a fragile-looking dust-bunny with the heart and soul of a maruader. As a practicing victimologist, Loki's mischief fits him like a glove; while his wild eyes warn of the berserker waiting barely below the surface.

The cast awaits the arrival of a brightly-patched lady and her silver sister:

The Ride of the Valkyries!
