PEAC 168    BALLET 3-4    1.0 CR.

Maggi Hayes        656-4183

EXAM REQUIREMENTS

This is normally a full semester course and, therefore,
students shall be expected to execute the various techniques
and sequences at a level equivalent to 28 classes.

Students shall participate in a selected class (or classes
as needed).  They will be observed in the following areas:

   1.  Barre Work

Standard ballet sequences of plies, tendus, ronde
jambe, adagio and allegio work with appropriate port de
bras.  Correct body alignment and effective mechanical
          principles should be apparent throughout.

     2.  Center Floor Work

Adagio and allegio work including jump combinations.
Combinations are generally developed from the following
steps:  First and second arabesque, pas de bouree, promenade,
jete, glissade, passe developpe, assemble, changement and the like.

      3.   Combinations

Longer prepared sequences including all of the elements
          above, along with simple turns.

Students are strongly encouraged to attend several classes before
the exam date in order to become familiar with the order and styles expected in the classes. Although the basic ballet vocabulary is well-established, the sequences will vary with each teacher.
