The positions of the tryptophans and the backbone conformations of both are very similar, although the orientation of some other side chains vary. In this view, the micellar membrane would stretch across from left to right, with the hydrophilic sulfate head groups at top and bottom, and the hydrophobic tails pointing in toward the center of the channel.
