Note for the Final: One sort of question I like to ask are short identifications for quotations. For example, I might give you a quoted passage taken from Hesiod, another from the Persians and another from Herodotus and ask you to identify the author and work. I do not choose the most obscure passages, but I try to avoid "dead giveaway" passages. In other words, if you did the reading with some care, you will recognize the passages as things you should know, but you will have to think about it a bit.
