Bioinformatics approaches have become essential in much of contemporary biology, from molecular biology to zoology. The aim of this special issue is to provide readers with a set of reviews that describe the latest innovations, approaches, and resources for educating the bioinformatics workforce, from bench biologists to full-fledged computational biologists.

This topical issue will consider manuscripts along the full spectrum of bioinformatics education topics, such as:
  • Developing bioinformatics education resources
  • Distance Education of Bioinformatics Concepts
  • Assessing quality of bioinformatics education
  • Determining core competencies in bioinformatics
  • Integration of bioinformatics into science curricula
  • Defining the role of bioinformatics in biology education
The intent to submit should be sent in an email to neil.sarkar@uvm.edu, containing a provisionary title of the manuscript and list of authors.
