Built 1885
This vernacular Queen Anne residence is a one and a half story gable front ell plan house with a projecting boxed cornice, frieze and corner sill boards. There are two bays over three and an east side enclosed porch with a shingled apron and “radiating quadrant motif in half of the pediment” of that roof. [1] The sash is two over two fixed bay with paneled base and brackets under the eaves. The paneled door front has a gabled hood entry and a semi-circular radiating ornamentation in the gable peak. The shed roof clapboard garage attachment at the northwest corner of the house is from the early 20th century. [2]
Moses Lenair (Lenoir, Lenois) is first listed in the 1885 Burlington City Directory at 1 Oak Street.[3] His name also appears on the 1890 Hopkins Map.[4] His name, in its various forms appears throughout the 1890s and through 1902.[5]
