62 Ward Street

The 1890 Hopkins map shows a T. Sears at this location.[1] Theodore Sears is listed in the 1890 city directory as living on Ward Street north of Blodgett.[2] He was a laborer employed by the city and he went on to be a fireman around 1919. Theodore’s wife Ida, along with Nettie, Wilbur and Laretta Sears live in the house in the early decades of the 20th century.[3] In the 1930 city directory, the address for Theodore Sears changes to its current number, 62 Ward Street.[4].

By 1942, Harry Sears and his wife Albina live at 62 Ward Street. Harry was a carpenter.

They are joined in the home by Kenneth G Sears, a soldier in the US Army.

This structure is a 1½ story, 2x3 bay, vernacular, gable-front house with narrow wooden clapboards. It has a one story, hipped roof, 2x5 bay entrance porch attached on the front, across the southeast facing façade. The columned porch has a shingled half wall supporting 1/1 wooden storm windows. The main block has 2/2 windows and plain surrounds.
