<salute>To the Editor of the Free Press:</salute>

I have followed, with interest, the discussion on sterilization
which has been going on, during the last few days, in the columns of
the Free Press. I read Mr. McGee's "long winded" letter, Mr. Davis's
inquiry for light, Miss Cassie's emotionless castigation, and Dr.
Allen's scientific treatise on Eugenics; with the result that I am left
slightly bewildered.

Would Dr. Allen, therefore, be so kind as enlighten me on
the following points:

What is the purpose of the State, and are there any limits to
its rights and powers?

What is the purpose of marriage? Can man pervert a natural
function?

Can the same methods we use on cattle be employed on
human beings? What will be the use of making room for younger
imbeciles, when imbecile progenitors are sterilized?

Will Dr. Allen please throw some light on these questions,
because his conclusions stand or fall with the answers given them.
