Joshua Whitney, 25 November 1837. The son of Oliver Whitney and Rebecca Nichols, he
was born 25 February 1813 and died 11 September 1888 in Rochester, VT.
At the age of 51, Joshua Whitney served as a private in Company H of
the 1st Vermont Heavy Artillery from 1864-1865, when he was discharged for
disability. His wife, Sarah A. Whitney,
applied for a widows pension in 1889.
