Available-UNLV The University of Nevada-Las Vegas is seeking two graduate assistants for the 1995-96 school year. Students with experience in either individual events or debate may apply. If you are looking for an exciting place to live (even if you don't gamble), Las Vegas has much to offer. We are within 45 minutes of both lakes and mountains, and the climate here is excellent year round--even with the "dry" heat!!! UNLV is a young, growing university with a great deal of potential. The UNLV squad travels both a regional (NDT/IE) and national (NDT) schedule. We are looking for graduate students who are eager to help build our growing program into a nationally competitive program. UNLV offers a flexible Master's program, allowing students to take courses in a variety of areas of speciality, including: telecommunication, broadcasting, rhetorical theory, social movements, political communication, gender communication, and communication theory. Students are also encouraged to pursue coursework in other disciplines. Faculty members have expertise in the corporate world of public relations, and the academic realm of rhetorical theory, mass media and communication theory. Our graduate faculty members have degrees from the Univ. of Southern Cal., Indiana Univ, Univ. of Arizona, Wayne State Univ., Univ. of Washington and Ohio State to name a few. The Greenspun School of Communication was created with a $ 2 million endowment from the Greenspun family (editors of the Las Vegas Sun newspaper). Their commmitment has enabled us to begin building a program that integrates all areas of communication study. Admission to the graduate program is contingent on a 3.0 GPA during the last two years of undergraduate studies, satisfactory scores on the GRE, 3 letters of recommendation, and a brief description of your goals. The present stipend is $8000 for the academic year. Tuition waivers covering out-of-state tuition and approximately 75% of the per credit hour fee are also granted to graduate assistants. The graduate fee for 1994-95 is $77.50 per credit hour; non-resident tuition is $2,205 each semester. Application deadline is March 15.
