The initial appointment will be for up to three years depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. Successive appointments depend upon performance and continuing enrollment demand/budget support. Salary is competitive and depends upon qualifications; an attractive benefits package is available. QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum qualifications for appointment to the position are a MasterŐs degree or doctorate in Communication or related discipline, substantial experience in coaching forensics, successful classroom teaching experience, and demonstrated ability to teach courses in Communication Studies. Candidates with experience in working with both debate and individual events, ability to work well with a multicultural student population, and ability to engage in community outreach are preferred. DUTIES: Primary responsibilities of the position include directing a nationally competitive forensics program, supervising Teaching Associates, budget management, and teaching classes in Communication Studies. THE PROGRAM: Communication Studies is one of two programs in the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences, which is one of three academic departments in the School of Communication and one of seven in the College of Communication and Education. The program has 9 full-time faculty, several part-time faculty and graduate teaching associates, approximately160 undergraduate majors and 30 graduate students.
