The Cooper-Smith Self-Esteem Inventory is the agreed upon evaluation tool; this evaluation must be used for any program run under the title of ECA.The Cooper-Smith was chosen for it's reliability and validity. The Leisure Diagnostic Battery was chosen to view youths leisure abilities.
![]() | The Concord youth began the Summer Youth Adventure Program with a total of 6 youth having an average score of 56, scoring 73 points out of a possible 144. The post test resulted with an average score of 67, scoring 79 points out of a possible 144. This was an increase of 5 points. |

The increase in both scores shows that the adventure program has an effect upon youth. The Concord group had over half needing special attention beyond the normal requirements. The youth had personal aids, medication, and other needs which required concern. The dynamics of this group provides the best chance for success, and the best chance for failure.
