Green Mountain Self-Advocates

Interests: I am interested in traveling. I have a fascination with extreme weather.
Family: I live with my parents, and have a twin brother.
Reason for Serving: As Outreach Coordinator of Green Mountain Self-Advocates, I am serving on the council to speak up on behalf or persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Interests: Being outdoors and active. Photography. I am a volunteer with the Montpelier Community Justice Center.
Family: Partner, Michael
Reason for serving on the council: I serve on behalf of the Director of the Division of Disability and Aging Services with the State of Vermont.

VT LEND Clinical Director & Associate Training Director, Speech Language Pathology Faculty

Interests: Weaving, hiking, rowing, laughing, challenging my own biases and learning from people who are different from me.
Family: Husband, 2 adult children; daughter living out of state and son beginning college, and one sweet elderly dog.
Reason for serving on the council: VT LEND and CDCI have a long history. VT LEND trains new leaders to improve the quality of life of children and youth with complex needs and their families. I have worked with individuals with disabilities for 25 years in Vermont and want to support continuing change in our systems to provide equitable services for all, particularly from former refugee communities in Vermont. Serving on the council is a way to collaborate and meet these goals.

Interests: Increasing the ability of people with disabilities to gain and remina as independent as possible. Riding my tricycle, and reading.
Family: Right now I am guardian to my 13 year old granddaugther Calista, and my 23 year old granddaughter Samantha is my long-term care worker. They and my other granddaughter live with me.
Reason for Serving: To help CDCI work toward independence and service for all people with disabilities.

Lisa is a parent of two young adults, one of whom has a developmental disability. She has spent 18 years working diligently to support families and to improve the system and make access to services and supports easier for families and individuals with disabilities. In her free time she enjoys hiking, biking, and cooking.

Nicole works at Northwestern Vermont Counseling services where she provides peer support and helps other individuals with disabilities develop their self advocacy skills. She also works at Pillsbury Manor. In addition to being an active member of the CAC, Nicole is on the Board of Directors of Green Mountain Self Advocates and treasurer. She serves on the Vermon's Special Olympics Board of Directors, and recently became a Global Messenger for Special Olympics.
