  Sage and problem solver, UVM veteran and lover of porcupines, Porky Reade helps students with everything from the application process to choosing classes to graduation requirements. Rare is there a question she can't answer. And she's often the first friendly face you'll see upon entering Jeffords Hall. When you have few other options, your best option is to visit Porky in Room 111 Jeffords.

  Another problem solver, Sarah is most things digital. She's the webmaster for the Plant Biology Department (the academic home of the Field Naturalist Program), she writes the department's newsletter and she provides other essential editorial and administrative support to the faculty. Before beginning her position at UVM, Sarah worked in textbook and encyclopedia publishing. She has a B.A. in English from the University at Albany and is working toward an M.S. in Natural Resources here at UVM.

  Karyn provides accounting and human resources support to faculty and grad students in the Plant Biology Department. Born and raised on Long Island, Karyn is a country girl at heart. After graduating from Ithaca College, she moved to Vermont and worked in the resort industry for 10 years, got married, started a family, and took a brief detour to western Maryland where she and her husband operated a home-based bread bakery. Realizing how much they loved and missed Vermont, they moved back and settled in North Ferrisburgh with their two kids and many German shepherds. Karyn loves to read and homestead, and is an unrelenting fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL).

  Carolyn is the bastion of student support in the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources (the academic home to the Ecological Planning Program). She moved to Vermont from the Deep South more than 30 years ago. She lives in Waterbury Center with her wonderful husband, John, and has three incredible kids. She is a fool for outdoor adventures, fiber arts, and any activities that relate to food – gardening, preserving, cooking and eating!
