Using Folder Options
Change file associations
Open Windows Explorer or My Computer.
Click the Tools menu | Folder Options| File Types tab.
Under Registered File Types, select the file type for the association you want to view, change, or remove. After you select the file type, view the currently associated program in the Details area.
To change the association, click Change under Details.
In the Open With dialog box, select the program you want to associate with the file or click Other if the program is not listed.
Click OK.
If you want to go back to the original program association, click Restore. Click Close.
To remove a program association
- Select it under Registered File Types and click Delete.
- When you see the Are You Sure You Want To Remove This File Extension prompt, click Yes.
- Click Close.
Using The Right-Click Options Menu
- Open Windows Explorer or My Computer.
- Open the folder that contains the file you want to work with, right-click the file, and point to Open With.
- Depending on the file type, Win2000 may display a list of programs.
- Select Properties and click Change on the General tab.
- Scroll through the Choose The Program You Want To Use list and click to select a program.
- If you want Win2000 to always associate this file extension with the selected program, select the Always Use This Program To Open These Files checkbox.
- Click OK.
