Detect And Repair
Office 2000 applications have a new feature called Detect And Repair, which resolves or repairs problems with DLLs, the registry, and program files. Running the Detect And Repair feature does the following:
- Rewrites registry values.
- Reinstalls Windows Installer shortcuts.
- Reinstalls Office .exe and .dll files if any are missing, corrupted, or out of date.
Before considering a complete reinstall the next time you have a problem, try running Detect And Repair first. To do so, Choose Help | Detect And Repair. The process may take a few minutes, so be patient. Most likely, you'll need your Office CD. Running this feature won't affect existing workbooks files.
