The Glass Shop is located in A213 Cook Science Building and is run by Angela Gatesy, the scientific glassblower.  She has the experience of working with glass for 20 years.  Scientific glassware is designed and fabricated on site.  Vacuum manifolds, distillation equipment and electrochemical cells are a few examples of special use glassware made here. Angela is a member of the American Scientific Glassblowers Society and the Glass Art Society.

In the past few years, UVM has had the pleasure of Sally Prasch working in the Glass Shop.  Again in the summer of 2002, Sally will return while Angela is on a short sabbatical.

• Borosilicate glass (Pyrex, Kimax, Duran)
• Quartz
• Soft glass (limited)

Instruction in glassblowing is part of Chem 202, the instrumentation  course for Chem majors.  Others interested in flameworking may inquire at the Shop.
