What is the Statistical Consulting Clinic (SCC)?
The SCC offers free statistical consultation services and advice to the students and faculty of the University of Vermont.  The goals of the SCC are to promote scientific collaboration between disciplines, enhance the quality of research at UVM, and improve the education and training of UVM students.

Services Provided by the SCC
SCC personnel are available for discussion at all stages of research, including:

SCC Personnel
The clinic will be staffed primarily with students from both the statistics and biostatistics programs.  Support will be  provided by faculty of the Statistics, Biostatistics, and Bioinformatics departments.

Project Initiation, Rules, Guidelines and Policies
Although we will help you at all stages of your research, we encourage you to contact us at the beginning of your research for assistance with data collection, experimental design, and sample size calculation. Appointments are made by completing the online "Request for Assistance Survey". The form is automatically emailed to the SCC for evaluation of needs. An SCC consultant, or team of consultants, will then be selected based on availability and expertise. You will then be contacted, within 2 business days, to set up an appointment. All appointments will take place in the SCC consulting lab, Rm 113 Waterman Basement.
This service is provided free of charge to UVM students, faculty and staff who are not otherwise covered by grant funding for statistical support. If you have funding for statistical support, contact Larry Haugh, PhD (haugh@emba.uvm.edu). The SCC is a non-profit educational organization with an elected board of directors, from a cross discipline of UVM departments.

What to Expect
Consultations usually last one hour. In some cases follow-up consultations may be necessary and are encouraged. The SCC provides applied statistical consulting, but should not be considered research assistants. For those with projects requiring multiple graphs and tables, the SCC will assist you in creating the first few, but will not produce all of them for you.
