The WID Undergraduate Mentor Program attaches experienced writing tutors from the Undergraduate Writing Center to classes that engage students in disciplinary-based writing. These mentors provide additional writing support to faculty and students in the course they are matched with.
Support for Students
WID mentors provide additional writing support to students through individual conferences, facilitated peer review, and group or class workshops to help students become more proficient in writing and thinking in the discipline.
Support for Faculty
WID mentors are a resource for faculty who want to incorporate writing in their courses more effectively. They can provide insights into students’ experiences with writing assignments and activities, leading to more effective instructional practices.
How to Participate
As a limited number of mentors are available, faculty must submit a request for the program. Priority will be given to instructors who demonstrate commitment to helping students improve as writers and who have participated in professional development around student writing.
We are currently accepting requests for the Fall 2021 semester though May 12th. Please submit the form as soon as you are able, and we'll be in touch soon!
