USDA Reporting Information

Research institutions prepare and submit information about agricultural and forestry research projects to be documented in CRIS (the Current Research Information System). CRIS is a unit of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) within USDA.

All research sponsored or conducted by the USDA is required to be documented in CRIS. The database currently includes information covering over 95% of all publicly supported agricultural and forestry research. Anyone can search CRISTEL the online searchable database, to obtain information for all USDA funded research documented in the CRIS system.

The CRIS database is built directly from data submitted by cooperating institutions. The Vermont Agricultural Experiment Station submits all data to CRIS electronically.
