Greenride Regional Bikeshare
In the end of the Spring 2018 semester, the Eco-Reps led our first campaign for Greenride Bikeshare, in collaboration with UVM Parking and Transportation Services and UVM Bikes. Our goal was to make sure the UVM community is aware of the bikeshare, answer FAQs, and register those that want to join. Greenride Bikeshare offers over 100 bikes, including 25 electric-assist bikes, with hubs spread out over 17 locations in Burlington, Winooski, and South Burlington, including 5 hubs on UVM’s campus. The mission of Greenride is to strengthen our connection to where we live, work, and play by offering a reliable, accessible, and affordable bikeshare program to Chittenden County.
On each campus, we tabled with the City Market Smoothie Bikes, reaching out to passers-by that were interested in learning more about Greenride. We were able to promote the bikeshare by giving out Bike Benefits stickers, and free helmets to those that registered from the Bike Education Center! We led a UVM Bike Parade from campus down to the Greenride Launch Party on Wednesday, April 18. Overall, the Eco-Reps helped to register
Bicycle Tire Pumps in the Dorms
A Change Agent personal project in the spring of 2018 implemented permanent access to a bike pump in each ResHall on campus. Read more about the ResHalls getting pumped.
In the fall of 2016, the Eco-Reps led a campaign called Sustainable Transportation. Throughout the campaign, we promoted sustainable transportation options for UVM students, like Wheeli, Carshare Vermont, and UVM BIkes! The campus-wide event series, called Fix-It Fridays, allowed UVM community members to engage with Eco-Reps who were tabling to communicate these transportation options. We collaborated with UVM Bikes, who were able to table with us each week throughout the campaign to help students fix their gear and get to riding their bikes!
