About SOC 1210 OL1
Analysis of the causes and consequences of social behavior that violates norms. Examines patterns of deviant socialization and social organization and forms of deviance control.

Section Description
This course examines various conceptions of deviant behavior, highlighting the social construction of 'deviance,' and problematizing the binary between deviance and 'normality.' The topics covered include the social construction of deviance, the social construction of normality, deviance and social control, deviance and criminalization, deviance and Black resistance, deviance and veganism
Section Expectation
(1) Complete readings.
(2) Watch lectures and make notes.
(3) Complete midterm exam (questions include multiple-choice questions, true/false, and fill in the blanks.) The midterm exam covers material from the first half of the course.
(4) Complete final exam (questions include multiple-choice questions, true/false, and fill in the blanks.) The final exam covers material from the second half of the course only.
