Section Description

This is a basic introductory business course which examines the functional areas of businesses and explains terminology and concepts which will enable you to become a better employee and a more informed consumer. Learn the fundamentals of management, human resources, marketing, e-business, information systems, accounting and finance. Discuss and learn about ethics, social responsibility, global issues, and social media. Master important business concepts that will help you succeed in today's competitive business world and in your personal life.

Section Expectation

The course is organized into four week-long "modules". We will cover two book chapters each week. Textbook readings will be evaluated by using Cengage MindTap software for chapter assignments. In addition to the textbook, there will be a selection of on-line business articles to be read, evaluated and discussed in interactive discussion board prompts. This class will follow an asynchronous online format (ONL), meaning students access course materials—lectures, readings, and assignments—on their own time. Learning, in other words, takes place at all different times because there’s no set class time. However, there are set due dates on assignments. This class will require effective time management and individual effort. Although this class is online it will offer many ways for students to engage with the instructor and with each other ranging from recorded lectures, online discussions, and feedback on completed work.
