The Simon Family Scholarship is for out-of-state, U.S. citizen or permanent residents who are first-time undergraduate students admitted to the College of Arts & Sciences. In addition to this criteria, applicants must meet the criteria below in order to be considered for the scholarship.

Simon Family Scholarship:

This $20,000 annual scholarship is awarded to one student in the incoming first-year class who

  • demonstrates a record of academic excellence, acts as a leader in their community, and is actively involved in community service;
  • demonstrates a high-level of financial need as determined through the FAFSA

Selection Process and Renewal Criteria:

A small number of students will be invited to an on-campus visit to be interviewed by faculty and staff. The recipient for the scholarship will receive a $20,000 annual scholarship. The scholarship is renewable for up to 3 years beyond the first year (a total of 8 semesters or until you graduate, whichever comes first) provided a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and continued enrollment within the College of Arts & Sciences is maintained. Additionally, scholars are expected to make a significant contribution to the UVM campus or the Burlington community through their involvement in student clubs, community service organizations, and leadership roles.

Students who submit the scholarship application and 2024-2025 FAFSA by February 4, 2024, and who meet the criteria listed above, will be considered for the Simon Family Scholarship. The 2024-2025 FAFSA will be available to file by December 31, 2023 (we encourage students to wait a few days after the opening date to file).

The deadline for the 2024-2025 Simon Family Scholarship is February 4, 2024.
