Meet the Catamounts John Duffy: "Duff" as he's known to his mates, hails from Bryn Mawr, Pa., where he was a football, hockey and tract star. He's a 6'3" junior, majoring in commerce and economics here at UVM. John attended Canterbury Prep before coming to Vermont, and was a three sport athlete there, as well. 21 years old, and single, Duffy worked as a life guard over the summer. He's one of Big Ed's top tackle candidates. Dick Dennis: Although at present overshadowed by the memory of his brother, the well-known Sonny Dennis of Middlebury fame, Dick promises to make a reputation of his own at the end slot for the Catamounts this year. Dick is a Summit, N.J. product, majoring in political science. During the winter, he's one of "Fuzzy" Evan's basketball men, but despite the busy sports schedule, he's a top-notch student and is a member of Key and Serpant honorary society. "Bing" Gilbert: If you asked "Bing" what his real name is, he might not remember it because it's never used, but just for the record, if you're writing fan letters direct them to Wendell Gilbert. "Bing's" a BFA St. Albans grad, where he starred in all three major sports. He was co-captain of the 1954 Vermont Maple Sugar Bowl team and all-state for two years in high school. The chunky Gilbert is majoring in civil engineering, and worked as a railroad section hand last summer to get in shape and pick up expense money. In case you're wondering, those aren't fire plugs he's walking on, they're his legs.
