Kristen Underwood,&nbsp;Research Assistant Professor, and Lindsay Worley, PhD Candidate,&nbsp;Civil &amp; Environmental Engineering, University of Vermont, present their research to develop a smart classifier of reach-based sediment erosion, transport, and deposition that relies on existing stream geomorphic assessment data stored in the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources online database.&nbsp;They preview visualization tools to communicate erosion hazards to communities and highlight how this research is supporting Vermont\u2019s broader Functioning Floodplains Initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0project\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uvm.edu\/seagrant\/project\/visualization-tools-to-communicate-riverine-erosion-hazards-and-improve-flood-resiliency-in-headwater-communities-of-the-lake-champlain-basin\/\" data-type=\"project\" data-id=\"2399\">Visualization Tools to Communicate Riverine Erosion Hazards and Improve Flood Resiliency in Headwater Communities of the Lake Champlain Basin<\/a>\u00a0is funded by the Lake Champlain Sea Grant and leverages previous work of the investigators\u00a0funded in part by\u00a0the National Science Foundation under Vermont EPSCoR Grant Nos.
