\n\tCoastal areas\u2014those along waterways\u2014face increased flooding and erosion, due at least in part to increased severity and frequency of storms and other impacts of climate change. Lake Champlain Sea Grant seeks proposals from partnering organizations\u00a0for a two-year fellowship research project that will create new knowledge to help coastal communities and ecosystems adapt and become more resilient to these challenges.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe proposed coastal adaptation and resilience research and actions should help predict, prepare for, and mitigate negative effects of storm, flooding, and erosion damage\u00a0in the Lake Champlain basin. It should also describe how it would provide training or professional development opportunities for the fellow, who will be recruited after the competition ends.<\/p>\n
\n\tProposals are welcome from non-profit organizations, businesses, government agencies, or institutions of higher education in the New York or Vermont portions of the Lake Champlain basin. Organizations representing diverse ways of knowing, perspectives, and audiences are encouraged to apply. Multiple organizations may apply collaboratively.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe research project should begin August 1, 2023 and continue for a total of two years. Lake Champlain Sea Grant will provide $30,000 per year with federal funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the partner organization(s) will provide at least an equal amount of non-federal funding.<\/p>\n
\n\tProposals are due: Friday, June 30, 2023.<\/strong> One project will be selected.
