Fellows learn and gain professional experience during the one year paid fellowship.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over 1,000 fellows have participated since 1979.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As part of the National Sea Grant College Program&#8217;s 50th Anniversary, we are catching up with some alumni, including Robyn Smyth, a\u00a02004 Executive Branch fellow from\u00a0Lake Champlain Sea Grant.<\/p>\n<h4><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/seagrant\/sites\/default\/files\/uploads\/PM_headshot.jpeg\" style=\"width: 224px; height: 336px; float: left;\" \/>\u00a0 Fellowship Assignment\u00a0<\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0National Science Foundation, Environmental Research and Education Program<\/p>\n<h4>\u00a0 Current Position<\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Assistant Professor Bard College Center for Environmental Policy<\/p>\n<h4>\u00a0 How did your fellowship help you in your career?<\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I currently teach science courses to students working on environmental\/climate science policy degrees. I draw upon my experience in Washington and the training we received as fellows regularly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h4>\u00a0 What is your favorite memory of your fellowship?<\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0One of my main responsibilities in NSF was organizing a workshop of experts in all facets of water research to identify key gaps in NSF&#8217;s funding.
