Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship\u2014NOW OPEN<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sea Grant Knauss Fellowships are one-year, paid fellowships for graduate students interested in ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes resources and policies. Knauss&nbsp;fellows are matched with \u201chosts\u201d in executive or legislative offices in Washington, DC. Executive placements may be with NOAA, U.S. Navy, the Department of Transportation, Water Power Technologies in the Department of Energy, Fish and Wildlife Service, the Environmental Protection Agency, or others. Legislative placements may be with the U.S. senators or representatives of committees within Congress, such as the House Committee on Natural Resources or the U.S. Senate Committee on Science, Commerce and Transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Have questions or want more information? We are recruiting, retaining, and preparing a dynamic workforce, and proactively engaging and serving the populations of coastal communities. Sea Grant is committed to building research, extension, communication, and education programs that serve people with unique backgrounds, circumstances, needs, perspectives, and ways of thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:6px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Terms of appointment and stipend:&nbsp;<\/strong>The fellowship will be for a period of one year, starting June 1, 2027, through May 31, 2028, during which the fellow will work in or near Washington, DC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:6px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Base funding for each award is up to&nbsp;$97,200. This includes&nbsp;$74,700&nbsp;to cover the fellow\u2019s salary\/stipend and personal expenses for the twelve months of the&nbsp;fellowship (including health care), up to $17,500 for travel, and $5,000 can be used to cover allowable expenses. Allowable expenses could include, but are not limited to, academic tuition, journal publication fees, academic- and fellowship-related travel, conference fees, in-person and online training, and workshops that support the successful completion of the fellowship and future career development of the fellow<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:6px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The fellow must submit an interim performance report and&nbsp;send a final performance report to the home Sea Grant program by the last day of the fellowship.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-essential-blocks-accordion-item eb-accordion-item-jbbes eb-accordion-wrapper\" data-clickable=\"false\"><div class=\"eb-accordion-title-wrapper eb-accordion-title-wrapper-eb-accordion-28k4n\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"eb-accordion-icon-wrapper eb-accordion-icon-wrapper-eb-accordion-28k4n\"><span class=\"dashicon dashicons dashicons-plus-alt2 eb-accordion-icon\"><\/span><\/span><div class=\"eb-accordion-title-content-wrap title-content-eb-accordion-28k4n\"><h3 class=\"eb-accordion-title\">Application Instructions<\/h3><\/div><\/div><div class=\"eb-accordion-content-wrapper eb-accordion-content-wrapper-eb-accordion-28k4n\"><div class=\"eb-accordion-content\">\n<p><strong>Applications must include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Curriculum vitae (not to exceed two pages).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal education and career development response (1,500 words or less)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relevant coursework and future year plans (not to exceed one page)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two letters of recommendation, one from a faculty member with knowledge of the applicant\u2019s academic&nbsp;performance (each letter not to exceed two pages)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>For applicants in a state or territory not served by an eligible Sea Grant program, but&nbsp;applying through an eligible Sea Grant program, a written statement from the Sea Grant&nbsp;Knauss Fellowship Program Manager referring the applicant to the most appropriate eligible&nbsp;Sea Grant program must be included as part of that applicant&#8217;s application package to the Sea&nbsp;Grant program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:6px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Each component of the application must be submitted electronically, in one or more PDF files, to Jessie Curl, Communications and Program Associate at&nbsp;Lake Champlain Sea Grant (<a href=\"mailto:seagrant@uvm.edu\">seagrant@uvm.edu<\/a>) by 5:00 p.m. EST on June 3, 2026.
