{"id":739,"date":"2025-10-03T11:23:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-03T15:23:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.seagrant.w3.uvm.edu\/?page_id=739"},"modified":"2025-10-03T11:23:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-03T15:23:08","slug":"vermont-lay-monitoring-program","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/seagrant\/vermont-lay-monitoring-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Vermont Lay Monitoring Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Lake Champlain Sea Grant partners with the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Lakes Lay Monitoring Program (LMP),&nbsp;a state-wide volunteer&nbsp;water quality sampling network initiated in 1979 and representing more than 100 inland lakes and 40 Lake Champlain stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LMP staff equip and train volunteers to sample a lake for total phosphorus (nutrient) concentration, chlorophyll-a (algae and cyanobacteria) concentration, and\/or Secchi disk depth (water clarity) throughout the summer.
