Guests on the podcast have discussed many topics including invasive species, how riparian buffers support pollinators, the shortage of native trees and shrubs for restoration, and much more.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/efotg.sc.egov.usda.gov\/api\/CPSFile\/22122\/391_VT_PS_Riparian_Forest_Buffer_2009\">Vermont Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Riparian Forest Buffer Specification Guide Sheet<\/a> &#8211; Technical but brief guide from NRCS\u00a0describing the agency&#8217;s\u00a0specifications for riparian forest buffers, including zones, widths, vegetation, fish and wildlife habitat specifications, planting plan specs, and both natural regeneration and direct seeding guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/seagrant\/sites\/default\/files\/files\/publication\/612_VT_PS_Tree_Shrub_Establishment_2009.pdf\">Vermont Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Tree and Shrub Establishment Guide<\/a> &#8211;\u00a0NRCS technical guide to tree and shrub establishment, including information about site prep and weed control; planting timing; storage and handling of plant material; planting techniques; protection from browse; natural regeneration; and direct seeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/seagrant\/sites\/default\/files\/files\/publication\/Riparian-Planting-Guide-Trees-For-Streams.pdf\">Vermont Trees for Streams Resource Guide<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0This guide includes information about types of buffers; considering pollution source,\u00a0land use history, and goals of the restoration project; site selection; planting plans; vegetation types; planting procedures; and sources of support and assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"\/\/www.uvm.edu\/seagrant\/sites\/default\/files\/uploads\/Northwest%20VT%20Riparian%20Planting%20Guide%20FINAL.pdf\">Northwestern Vermont Riparian Planting Guide<\/a> &#8211; This relatively brief guide outlines information on partner organizations in NW Vermont; funding opportunities; outreach to landowners; project design and implementation; and maintenance and monitoring. Many groups are re-establishing riparian forests across the Lake Champlain basin. However, reed canary grass (RCG) has often hindered the survival success of these restoration efforts.
