Social Marketing is a type of marketing designed to change people’s behaviors in a manner that benefits individuals, communities and societies. Social marketing campaigns often focus on promoting or sustaining environmentally friendly actions. Behavior changes are achieved by understanding and addressing the barriers and benefits that specific audiences have to implementing desired behaviors.
This interactive workshop will enable participants to learn a step-by-step process to design and implement effective social marketing campaigns. The two-day workshop will be led by Nancy Lee. Ms. Lee has more than 30 years of professional marketing experience, has authored numerous books on the subject of social marketing, and currently serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Washington's Dan Evans School of Public Affairs, teaching courses on social marketing and public sector marketing.
The event, sponsored by Lake Champlain Sea Grant and UVM Extension, is open to anyone within or outside the Lake Champlain Basin. The workshop will promote the use of social marketing by organizations within the Lake Champlain Basin to improve and protect water resources, and to help build climate change resilient communities.
