Flood Resilience Tour: Rivers, Beavers & Restoration
Join Amanda Garland, Vermont River Conservancy’s Stewardship Manager, Alison Spasyk, Flood Resilience Educator with Lake Champlain Sea Grant, and Rod Coronado, Wildlife Programs Director for Sage Mountain Botanical, for a guided walk along the Jail Branch River above the Barre Flood Control Dam to explore river dynamics, riparian buffer zones, and floodplain connectivity. Along the way, we’ll learn how our history of managing rivers has shaped them today, discover how beavers can help restore healthier waterways, and visit a second site to see a beaver flow device—a restoration tool that helps beavers and people coexist.

Meeting and Parking Location: East Barre
Directions: From Barre, travel east on Route 302 through the East Barre traffic circle and continue for approximately 1 mile. The parking area will be on your right, directly across from Reservoir Road. From Orange, travel west on Route 302 for approximately 1.5 miles past the town center. The parking area will be on your left, directly across from Reservoir Road.
