Since the early October Salt Summit was held quite a distance from Burlington, Vermont, this limited participation from those in the Eastern Lake Champlain Basin and Vermont. To allow road crews and private contractors from various municipalities in this area to receive training in best low salt practices, a second Road Salt Education Workshop will be held on Thursday, October 24, from 8 AM until NOON at the UVM Spear St Forestry Lab conference room, 705 Spear St, South Burlington. We joined forces with the AuSable River Association, ADKAction and the FUND for Lake George to bring this year's road salt- focused training and networking event to Lake Placid, New York. This Salt Summit was held on Thursday, October 3 from 8 AM - 3 PM at the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort in Lake Placid. We invite private contractors, municipal staff, business owners, elected officials and other local decision makers, watershed groups, and others interested in learning about best practices to minimize salt runoff to Lake Champlain, Lake George, Lake Placid, Mirror Lake, and other lakes and tributaries in the Lake Champlain Basin and Adirondacks.
