Do I need to move out during a specific time?
Students are expected to move-out within 24 hours of the completion of their last exam of the semester. During the Spring 2021 Move-out students will not be assigned specific times in which they will have to move-out, however residential halls close for all students at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 19.
Can I have another mover or person pick-up my belongings?
As per the Governor’s orders and UVM's policy, guests will not be permitted in the halls during move-out. This includes any third-party vendors (movers, storage companies, etc).
Can I have my belongings packed and moved to my room for next year?
During the summer, our Facilities and Custodial teams perform maintenance and cleaning, which prevents students from leaving any belongings in the residence halls. We encourage you to utilize local storage options for any items you cannot bring home.
What are the COVID guidelines for move-out?
To minimize the potential spread of COVID-19, shared equipment such as moving carts, cleaning supplies, and tools will not be available. We encourage you to bring your own supplies to assist with the ease of moving out. Anyone entering a residence hall is required to wear a face covering (gloves are strongly recommended).
Can my family or friends help me move-out?
As per the Governor’s orders and UVM's policy, guests will not be permitted in the halls during move-out. Recommendations and helpful tips for a successful move-out include:
- Bring a moving cart to assist with large or heavy items.
- Have family and friends pack the car.
- Coordinate with friends from your building to help one another.
What do I do with trash during move-out?
Trash rooms within our residential halls will not be serviced regularly due to COVID-19 during move-out. All trash should be removed from your assigned rooms and taken to the dumpsters outside of your residential hall.
What happens to my mail and packages after move-out?
All USPS mail will be forwarded to the permanent USA address on record for you. Please update your local or permanent address at myUVM under Registrar/person information. UPS and FedEx packages cannot be forwarded and will be returned to the sender. If you have any summer mail questions, please contact UVM Print and Mail directly.
What do I do if there is missing furniture in my room?
Any furniture removed from your room should be returned immediately; students may be charged for any furniture identified as missing during room inspections conducted after move-out.
Can I leave my bike on-campus over the summer?
Please remember to take your bike with you when you move-out. Bikes left over the summer will be collected and stored for 30 days, after 30 days they will be disposed or donated.
What should I do with textbooks I rented from UVM Bookstore and/or have borrowed items from Howe Library?
Textbooks should be returned to the Bookstore or Library directly. Any belongings left in student rooms will be stored for 30 days and discarded.
